The Gladiator standard suspension on is relatively softly tuned and gives a comfortable ride on the road under normal conditions. However, if load is added and the vehicle is driven off the road, this can easily lead to handling that feels a little spongy and uncontrolled. To achieve the optimum balance between load capacity and ride quality, AEV therefore uses frequency-tuned coil springs with progressive spring rates in conjunction with matched Bilstein 5100 shock absorbers on this suspension. This combines a slightly sportier and more controlled ride with increased suspension travel and provides improved articulation off-road.
